Scottsdale! Though the results held no surprises, photographically I found many unexpected gems amongst this year's competitors. DA Valentino, the Supreme Champion, was of course majestic.
One of my favorite horses of the show, though, was FM Echota. His supernatural coloring (a ruddy liver chesnut) caught my eye, but it was the variety and sweetness of his expressions that held my attention.
Another favorite was Olita, shown by Greg Gallun. Her mane gossamer, her presence ethereal, she was like a Shary Akers painting come to life, impossibly beautiful.
And of course, Eden C was a dead ringer for his sire, Enzo, and photographed just as well.
Lastly, Trademaark lent himself to many lovely shots. Check back soon for new work, which will probably feature one of these fantastic contenders!

Two of my pieces were awarded first and second place in the Drawing division of the Mukilteo Lighthouse Festival's annual Juried Art Show. The show begins today and runs through the weekend in Mukilteo, WA. Visit the event's website for directions: http://www.mukilteofestival.org/ ***********

My latest work has received a ribbon at the Equine Art 2007 juried art exhibit held at Emerald Downs, in Auburn, WA. The piece, a color-infused drawing of Silver Maple Farm's stallion, Ali Saroukh, was one of my first attempts at integrating pastel pencils with charcoal. June 22, 2007 Three of my 2006 equine portraits were accepted into the Western States Horse Expo "Equine Dream" Art Exhibition. One of these, "CWP Chances Are," is featured on the event's home page and won a second place ribbon in the Charcoal/Pencil division. The two other pieces were "Magic Dream" and "Patagonia X."
